For most of my life I’ve been obsessed with a question that confronts most of us at some point: how should I live? I eventually settled on a path I find satisfying, but it took a lot of looking.

Notes on different approaches to life which I’ve adopted, adapted, or rejected. I don’t urge my path on anyone, but perhaps some will be informed by hearing how I crafted it.

Who am I to offer these thoughts?

Born 1954, retired Jan 2021. Formerly (in rough order, with some overlap): grad student in linguistics, programmer (AI research, data warehouse, supply chain management, web development), publisher, book seller, bluegrass musician, farmer, office manager, IT guy.

Agrarian. Pragmatist. Anarchist. Father of seven. Widowed in late 2022.
